When people look to moving overseas there impression of what happens to their household furniture & effects and the reality of what actually happens is very different.

In the first instance every single piece of furniture is fully export wrapped. This is a skilled job and is something best carried out by trained removal staff. Typically they will use export blankets to carry perform this. These are five ply paper blankets. The inside layer that comes into contact with furniture is generally a soft tissue to prevent marking. The next three layers are stronger and have a mild corregation in them. The outer layer is much stronger and has a waxy feel to it. Although it isnt waterproof it is more water resistant and gives the blanket its strength.

When loading a shipping container the removal crew will create tiers across the container. Heavy items will be placed on the bottom with lighter pieces on top of them. Consideration is given throughout this process as to what might fit where, so that every nook and cranny is filled. The tighter the load the less chance there is of movement and therefore this reduces the risk of damage.

Appleyards of Yorkshire have been loading shipping containers for many years and have designed their packing cases to show the company logo across them. Whilst visually appealing this also demonstrates that by using modular removal cartons they will reduce any waste space.
