Currently there is a massive lack of HGV drivers in the UK. The shortfall of around 110,000 drivers has been caused by Brexit with many European drivers returning home and also by COVID with testing centres being closed for such a long length of time and therefore no new drivers coming into the industry

In the past few years Appleyard's have reduced the number of 17 ton trucks on their fleet and replaced them with lots of 3.5 ton trucks to avoid the issues being created by the lack of qualified HGV drivers. This does have the advantage of being able to get the vans very close to customers houses to perform their moves, but it is hindering the ability to carry out large, long distanced moves. This is a situation the company is keen to try and resolve.

If you have or know anyone who has both removals experience and the relevant 7.5 ton or 17 ton licence then please get them to email  a CV in confidence or call 01482 330789 and ask for Andy
